마이크 종류, windshield, popshield

Microphone의 종류는 Polar Pattern 에 따라 다음과 같이 분류

• Omnidirectional
• Cardioid - picks up sound that is pointing towards the top surface of the windshield. Used for most vocal applications.
• Hypercardioid - picks up sound that is pointing through the very top of the windshield. Used in many vocal applications. Note that although these microphones pick up a tighter beam of sound from the front, they also pick up slightly more sound from the rear than a cardioid, so beware feedback!
• Shotgun - the “spotlight” of microphones. Useful for picking up sound from the back of a stage or from a long way off.
• Rifle - picks up a narrower “spot” of sound that a shotgun - otherwise similar.
• Lemniscate / figure of eight - picks up an even lobe of sound from each side. Not often used in the theatre - more useful for interviews and advanced stereo recording techniques.

Windshields 란?
Windshields 라는 것은 이름은 몰라도 누구나 본적이 있을 것이다.
우리가 흔히 보는 마이크에 기본적으로 장착되어 있기 때문이다.
마이크의 끝부분에 있는 폭신폭신한 것으로 mesh 밑에 자리하고 있으며
outdoor 에서 사용될때 바람 때문에 생기는 hissing sound 를 막아주는 역할을 한다.

Popshields 란?
성우 녹음시 마이크 주변에 둥근 hoop 을 볼수가 있는데 그것이 popshield 이다.
그 역할은, 입과 마이크가 너무 가까워서 popping sound 가 생기는 것을 막기 위한 장치이다.
(마이크에다 대고 말할때 popping sound 가 나는 것을 들은 적이 있을 것이다.
성우 녹음한 것에는 그런 소리가 나지 않는다.)
Popshield 가 있으면 성우가 마이크에 너무 가까이 다가가지 못한다는 부가적인 이점도 있다.

값싸고 효과적인 Popshield 를 만들려면
스타킹 천을 coat hanger 로 만든 wire hoop 에 씌우면 된다.
